Born on April 25, 1986, in Lakeport, California, Derek Thorn began his journey in motorsports at just 8 years old, racing go-karts at Lakeport Speedway. By age 13, he had progressed to street stock racing, setting the stage for what would become a standout career in the world of competitive racing.

NASCAR K&N Pro Series West: Thorn captured series titles in both 2013 and 2018 while driving for Sunrise Ford Racing, showcasing his consistency and skill at a high level.

 

SRL Southwest Tour: By 2021, he had claimed his sixth championship in the series, earning the distinction of being its most successful driver to date.

 

Snowball Derby: After several close calls in past years, Thorn dominated the 55th Annual Snowball Derby in 2022, leading 307 of 318 laps on his way to a long-awaited and well-earned victory.
